Equity warns over AI terms in unidentified game casting
The British union urges caution over an unidentified casting said to involve AI voice-model training, a full assignment of rights and a one-off payment.

According to the report by Voice Over Herald, “Equity warns about a game casting's AI terms - Voice Over Talent Industry News”, Equity urged performers and agents to proceed with “extreme caution” over an unidentified video game casting. The preliminary information reportedly contemplated using performers’ voices to train AI or large-language-model software and create a potentially recognisable voice model. The casting was also said to require an assignment to the end client of rights relating to the performer’s image, voice, likeness and performance, together with a single payment covering the work and subsequent uses.
The union had not, however, reviewed the complete contractual terms: the article says they would be supplied only after execution of a non-disclosure agreement. Neither the studio nor the game was identified, and Equity acknowledged that the detailed contract might differ from the information available. On that limited basis, the union warned that recordings and the voice model could be reused, including in sequels or adaptations, without further consent or payment, and could generate lines the performer never delivered. Equity did not announce a general prohibition; it advised performers to assess the terms carefully and argued that AI uses should preserve control, consent and fair compensation. The report therefore concerns union commentary on terms that had not been fully verified, rather than enacted legislation or a judicial ruling.
