DPO certification attests to personal professional competence and does not extend to the software developed or to the performance of AI systems.
Professional background
Marco Perilli is a lawyer practising in copyright, personal data protection and artificial intelligence law.
His work in copyright covers the acquisition, licensing and exploitation of creative works, particularly in film, publishing, music, fashion and photography. He drafts and negotiates domestic and international contracts, including in English and French, for production, co-production and distribution.
As a certified DPO, he assists businesses and non-profit organisations with GDPR and Italian Privacy Code compliance, combining advice with staff training. He completed the Lead Auditor ISO/IEC 27001 course on information security management systems (Bureau Veritas, 2019). He has taught copyright law at Roma Tre University and privacy at UPTER.
He is co-founder and Managing Director (direttore responsabile) of AI Law – International Review of Artificial Intelligence Law, published by G. Giappichelli Editore. His legal work on artificial intelligence includes advice on international agreements for the licensing and transfer of rights to use generative AI systems.
Alongside his legal practice, he develops and tests tools for document analysis, case-file organisation and due diligence. They allow large document collections to be examined while protecting personal and business information, in support of the professional’s judgment.
