Delhi protects Amitabh Bachchan’s name, image and voice
A news report describes a final decree protecting the actor against unauthorised commercial uses of his identity, including by unidentified defendants.

According to Newstrack English, in its article “Delhi high court permanently protects actor Amitabh Bachchan's personality rights” published on 7 November 2026, the Delhi High Court has granted permanent protection to actor Amitabh Bachchan’s personality rights. The decree, issued on 5 November in proceedings begun in 2022, prohibits unauthorised commercial uses of his name, image, voice and other identifying features, within the scope of the conduct covered by the order. The decision also incorporates the interim injunction issued in November 2022 and applies to both identified and unidentified defendants.
The publication reports that four defendants reached settlements with the actor, undertaking not to exploit his identity without his express consent; those terms were incorporated into the final decree. The court reportedly also granted relief against four other defendants who had not participated in the proceedings, applying Order VIII Rule 10 of the Code of Civil Procedure. The concern identified was that commercial use of the actor’s name and photographs could falsely suggest that he endorsed products or services. The protection described therefore concerns the exploitation of personal identity. The decree itself has not been examined directly: the injunction’s exact wording and limits remain to be verified.
